MAGICAL COLOR
I like to explore the realm of tetrochromatic vision, which allows those with this capacity (usually women) to see colors that are not visible to most. With tetrachromatic vision a person can perceive an estimated 100 million color variations. With my original photographs as a starting point, I recreate this effect using a computer and a variety of drawing and photographic software. The images are vivid and dynamic. The composition of each piece, while starting with traditional elements of nature, is developed in what is a modern and abstract aesthetic. The use of bright colors and intersecting shapes creates a sense of depth and movement that adds to the beauty of the instance while creating something entirely new. I see my role as an artist is to create sense of magic in this dreary world.
It is my intention that this artwork be a unique expression of the vibrant and diverse beauty of the natural world.
