I was one of those who didn’t pack up and get on the road when it became clear that the CAT 5 hurricane, Irma would be making a head-on landing in Naples, FL where I live. For me there was really no question but that I would stay put. For one thing, I live alone and I'd rather be behind the cement walls of my built-to-code condo building, hovering over my things, than on the road with everyone else in search of safety.
Going through the hurricane turned out to be the most frighten experience of my life, and one I don’t ever want to go through again. The next time I hear the ‘H’ word, Im out of here! When the storm did finally pass: eye-wall, the eye and all the rain, as a CAT 4, my windows were in tact, so I went out to find what destruction had been wrought. It looked like a war-zone. Almost all the trees were down.
I have previously found peace and comfort surrounded by the the flora of the areas so now, in a kin...
Ive been a painter all my life, with a painter's way of expressing my emotions and philosophy through color and form. i've always enjoyed taking photographs but in the past few years I have increasingly found myself employing the wizardry of Photoshop to bring out the inherent beauty found in the natural world.
I employ the same rigorous minimalist process i use while painting, in my photographs to speak allegorically of simple truths. I look for balance in the unpredictable, order in the chaos and sublime aspects of the great forces in nature. Looking through the lens has helped me zero in on these moments. Using digital resources has aided my investigation and portrayal of what I find. I've humbly come to call the natural way things seem to arrange themselves to perfection, the grand order of things.

I am excited to be included and look forward to attending the opening reception, April 14, 2018. I am going to stay for the week that follows so I can go to the Monterey Aquarium and photograph. I also plan on taking a day long boat trip to observe Killer Whales.
I am beginning the year with one over-reaching resolution and that is to take any opportunity to step outside my comfort zone whenever it should arise. Writing a blog is a good place to start since I am unsure of grammar or my ability to express myself in words. But here goes. I hope I can fill the blog with so much content that the grammar and punctuation is overlooked.
My favorite subjects these days are the various qualities of reflected light on water, the flora that surrounds me, was well as surfaces that catch my eye just meandering around my home which is situated along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. There are also times when I will photograph something on the TV or screen capture a live stream on the web. It is all our visual library
My favorite subjects are the different qualities of reflective light, wherever it occurs, be it on water, on shiny surface in my home, or on windows just to name a few. What I get is photographs of light which is to me the most essential ele...
